Top Devastating Fires Causing Significant Losses in 2023

The fire situation is always a focal point of attention for all officials and citizens across the country. 1. Mini Apartment Fire Leaves 56 Dead in Khương Hạ Street, Thanh Xuân, Hanoi

   Around 11 PM on September 15th, a fire erupted from the parking area on the first floor and spread to the upper floors, with a black smoke column engulfing the building, trapping many people inside. About 15 fire trucks and around 100 firefighters were deployed to extinguish the fire and rescue the trapped victims. The fire was basically brought under control after 45 minutes. Rescue operations continued until dawn, with the authorities rescuing 70 trapped people and transporting the injured to the hospital. This devastating fire resulted in 37 injuries and 56 fatalities. The cause of the fire was determined to be an electrical short circuit.

2. Cam Ly Landfill Fire in Da Lat Finally Extinguished After More Than a Month

   The Cam Ly landfill fire started in the afternoon of May 11th. Authorities mobilized about 50 people and various means to extinguish the fire. After a day of effort and the implementation of several measures, the fire was basically under control. However, due to the multiple layers of buried waste and the dry weather conditions, the fire continued to smolder beneath the waste layers. After nearly a month of deploying numerous firefighting methods, the fire was completely extinguished by the morning of June 7th. The fire produced thick smoke and the acrid smell of burning waste, severely affecting the lives of many families and causing significant environmental and visual pollution in the area.

3. Tam Bạc Market Fire Damages Over 665 Stalls, Estimated Losses Over 50 Billion VND

   Around 6:30 AM on February 12th, a massive fire broke out at Tam Bạc Market, a bustling wholesale market in Hai Phong. More than 40 vehicles and over 1,000 people, including Hai Phong City Police fire forces, local militia, and on-site forces, were mobilized to control and extinguish the fire. After more than two hours of efforts, the fire was basically brought under control. However, Tam Bạc Market was almost completely destroyed, with approximately 665 stalls damaged and only about 100 stalls unaffected. The estimated loss is over 50 billion VND. The fire has devastated the assets of hundreds of small traders, raising significant concerns about social welfare.
