Summary of Fires in Food Service Establishments in Recent Years
In recent years, there have been many fires in food service establishments nationwide, including restaurants, hotels, and eateries, causing significant property damage and disrupting the business operations of these establishments. Below, SmartTech highlights a few fire incidents in food service establishments.
Restaurant Fire
At around 8:35 PM on June 29, 2023, a fire broke out on the 4th floor of a 7-story restaurant in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City, spreading quickly and causing people inside to flee in panic. Upon receiving the report, authorities dispatched 8 fire trucks and 51 firefighters to the scene to assist in extinguishing the fire and rescuing those trapped. By 9:30 PM the same day, the fire was basically under control, and no casualties were reported.

Seven-Story Restaurant Fire in District 1, HCMAt around 9:30 AM on October 17, 2023, a fire broke out at the District K restaurant/bar on Thu Khoa Huan Street, Ben Thanh Ward, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City. Upon receiving the news, authorities dispatched over 10 specialized vehicles and more than 80 firefighters to assist in extinguishing the fire. After nearly three hours of efforts, the fire was basically put out. Fortunately, there were no casualties.

At 9:30 AM on April 15, thick smoke billowed from the kitchen of Bay Buffet restaurant at 167 Hoang Ngan, Cau Giay, Hanoi. Upon receiving the report, authorities promptly arrived to extinguish the fire and prevent it from spreading. After about 30 minutes, the fire was put out. The fire did not cause any casualties. The initial cause was determined to be a fire in the restaurant’s kitchen.

At around 11:20 AM on June 17, 2022, a fire broke out at the Shining Central Hotel located at 20 Lo Su Street (Ly Thai To Ward, Hoan Kiem District). Upon receiving the information, authorities mobilized 1 command vehicle, 1 ladder truck, 4 fire trucks, and a team to the scene to extinguish the fire and rescue those trapped inside (including 3 foreigners). By around 11:40 AM, the fire was completely extinguished. Fortunately, there were no casualties. The fire was determined to have originated from an unused kitchen on the 10th floor of the hotel.

Fire at Shining Central Hotel
At 5:45 AM on March 22, 2022, a fire broke out on the first floor of the Helen Hotel located at 01 D8, Monbay Urban Area, Hong Hai Ward, Ha Long City, Quang Ninh Province. Upon receiving the fire report, the Provincial Police Department’s Fire Prevention and Rescue Department dispatched 2 fire trucks and 15 officers to the scene, quickly extinguishing the fire and rescuing 5 people trapped inside, ensuring their safety. The fire was completely extinguished after 30 minutes of efforts. The fire did not cause any casualties but left many guests in a state of panic. The initial cause was determined to be a gas pipe malfunction in the kitchen during cooking.

Eatery Fire
At around 8:45 AM on September 19, 2023, a fire broke out at a Bún Đậu Mắm Tôm eatery on Hoang Mai Street (Hanoi), causing panic among the residents. The fire originated from the kitchen area of a house that also served as a business for selling chicken rice and bún đậu. The fire was quickly extinguished by local residents and firefighters, resulting in no casualties and only minor property damage.

Fortunately, the fires mentioned above did not cause any casualties, but the damage to property was inevitable. The businesses had to temporarily close for repairs, leading to financial losses and disruptions in their operations.
